The solidarity of the gas pump really helps to bring attention directly to it. If allowed to wander, it brings to mind perhaps a family member, strong and capable of assisting others. The aged touch brings a sense of vulnerability to the image, which only serves to strengthen the symbolism. Behind the Gas pump is a soda machine, its outline, so to speak, wonderfully in focus, the sodas inside blurry. Overall this picture is well done and well taken. It allows the viewer to draw their own conclusions without even insinuating that there are conclusions to be drawn to. Very well done.
